First thing - find a station which has the right line to go on. Sibuya is on the Ginza Line.
Second step - buy a ticket. Easier than it sounds. We tried to use the machine which had an English button - we got to the third screen and there was no English to be seen, so we resorted to using a normal machine, and managed to purchase two tickets!
Hehehe - this is the map from which you determine which line you need to be on, and where to go! Can you see why we were a little worried about getting to our destination?
The Shibuya has the busiest pedestrian crossing in the world. Here we are at 9:30 in the morning - nothing opens until 11am. So it wasn't busy. The later it gets the busier it gets. At 5:30pm it was wall-to-wall people:
My favourite place was the 109 - this place is the gear. So many fashionable shops. Pity about the price tags. You know those girls in the manga movies with the short skirts and the thigh high stockings and high heels - well, the girls here really do wear those clothes!
We had lunch at a Korean BBQ restaurant. I was a little worried about burning the place down, when the fat from the pork I was cooking dripped on the coals and the flames started licking up over the top of the grill. We got some Sirloin also, and some vegetables to grill (you cook the food yourself). Those six pieces of very thinly sliced steak pieces cost roughly $18!
The electronics stores here are eight stories high. Dave probably would have found them a whole lot more interesting, except that the products are probably dearer than buying them in Australia.
There are vending machines everywhere - around in little corner alleys. Some machines even dispense hot soup and coffees, as well as cold drinks!
There was even a Disney Shop here in the Shibuya:
At night - this place really comes alive, so many neons - and so many people! This is how you imagine Tokyo to look!
This Pachinko parlour was a sight to behold. We weren't game enough to take a picture inside (apparently a lot of these parlours are run by the Akusa). The parlour has a whole heap of machines lined up inside, with people playing this game, that kind of looks like pinball but isn't. The aim of the game is to get as many balls as possible, which can be cashed in for prizes.
After trapsing back to the hotel we called the girls again- got video this time, which was excellent (don't appear to be missing us too much, having too much fun with the cousins)!
Dinner tonight was at Wendy's (Dave needed a burger fix). I opted for the Chowder and Chilli instead, then we went for a walk (although my feet could have done without it). We found the famous Sony building (will have to come back and visit in the morning when it is open for show).
The Ginza is also very pretty at night. So safe to walk around here - seems to be no danger what-so-ever, you don't even see any shady people!
