Digital Scrapbooking

Whilst Dave was having his operation, I managed to create some digital patterned papers and embellishments including bookplates, tags and brads following the instructions in a new book that I have called Digital Designs 2 by Renee Pearson- excellent book. Here is a sample of some of the things you create using the lessons in the book:

Dave's Operation

Well, I must admit to feeling quite a bit relieved, now that Dave has had his operation.

I had that sick feeling in the pit of my stomach when I went to bed on the Sunday night. I was a bit nervous about the operation, a bit nervous about finding where I needed to go in the middle of heavy Sydney traffic, and sad to leave the girls for a couple of days.

Jasmin was funny on Sunday night - I gave her lots of kisses, only to have her put her hand on where I had kissed her, and then put her hand on my mouth. "What are you doing" I asked. "I'm giving back some of your kisses" she says. "Why?", I ask. She replies - "So you don't run out of kisses for me Mummy!"

Dave had his Cataract operation at about 11:30am on the Monday - they put him under a local, with a block on his eyes to stop them from moving. He is a one-pot screamer, he was immediately knocked out. Apparently most people are conscious for their operation and can help the doctor, but not Dave. He woke up what he thought was 5 minutes later (it was about an hour and a half).

He spent the afternoon sleeping in our Hotel room at the Mercure on Broadway. I spent the afternoon planning scrapbook pages for the weekend retreat and had a little nap myself having got up at 4:45am in the morning and driven to Sydney.

Dave is not one to miss the opportunity to go out without the littlies, so we went to a Spanish Restaurant that does the most excellent Tapas and then went and saw Harry Potter 5, which we enjoyed. Dave thought they had done a really good job of converting the least interesting of the books in the series to a movie.

Tuesday we had to go for Dave's checkup - and noticed on the way there that the Dr's was only 5 minutes up the road from Peters of Kensington - so guess where we had a shop at before driving home. Picked up a couple of Xmas presents, and also got ourselves a beautiful set of Claude Dozorme steak knives , lots of cute kids cutlery and some kitchen knick-knacks. Dave also got Persian Fairy Floss - this stuff is the gear, so much better than the sugar infested stuff we make here. This stuff is made from rose extract and has a delicate yet sweet flavour.

We were very happy to get home - nothing like little girls running to hug and kiss you. Will miss them on the weekend, as I have a whole Weekend Scrapbooking thing to go to, but Davie will definitely get some quality daddy-daughter time in.

Monkey Girl

I am convinced that I have a monkey for a daughter! Eliza has managed to bang herself up three times in the same place - just above the right eye brow. The first time was when she decided to climb into an empty wrought-iron wine rack, and it over balanced and fell forward. The second she hurt herself on the edge of the coffee table bending over to pick something up, and the third time she was bouncing on my bed and we think she bounced too close to the bed head or bed foot, and got herself in the same spot. I cannot remember Jasmin ever being so monkey like!

Turner Family Menu for this week

Thinking how much I love food yesterday. Love to eat it, and love to cook it! I think we are so lucky that we live in a time, when there are so many different ethnic ingredients available, and access to so much fresh food fruit and vegetables. Here is what the Turner household is eating this week:

Monday - Veal Marsala with steamed vegetables and mashed potato

Tuesday - Beef Madras with coconut milk cooked in the slow cooker, with rice and stirfried bok-choy (with ginger garlic and soy), Lemon Delicious Pudding that Nan and Jas made during the day

Wednesday - Tacos (nice quick meal, haven't had these for ages), more Lemon Delicious Pudding

Thursday - Vietnamese Chicken with Mint

Friday - Take-away night!

Saturday - Noodles with Pork and Prawns

Boy - I am even more hungry than what I was before I started this post!

Random Photos

Have a couple of photos to post from the last couple of weeks, the first one is a picture of what Jasmin calls her "Bling" bag. A bag she puts some of her jewelley and hair accessories in (I stress some, as there is no way she could fit all her bling in the one bag). The bag looked so beautiful hanging on one of our doors:

Nan bought Jas a Fred Bare pinafore last weekend as well, from a great shop in Goulburn called Humpty Dumpty. Here she is ready to go to preschool in her new pinafore:

The third is a picture I took of David last weekend when he took the girls to the park to play. He looks so good now - having lost 16kg since the start of the year. The girls enjoyed a brief play at the park, it was bitterly cold even though the sun was out.

We have just got back from visiting the eye specialists in Sydney, turns out Dave has a "Dense" cataract on his left eye, and the surgeon who operated on his last one, did not feel confident about operating on this one - so we had to see a second specialist. He was also very nice, and I guess the good news is that he was happy to operate on it - and would actually do it under a local in day surgery and use a block to stop his eyes from moving. A bit of a relief given how sick the general made him last time. Overall a tiring day on Friday - driving around Sydney. All booked in for Dave's surgery on 23 July though, so relieved they can fit him in quickly. Doctor said he might as well be blind in that eye at the moment, so vision is pretty poor.

We stayed with Mark and Michelle and the boys in Sydney, our second catch up for the year. They are hoping to come and see us next. Dave and Mark took the boys and the girls to football games on Saturday as the boys all play rugby league. Poor Michelle and I were convalescing at home, having drunk a suspect bottle of wine on Friday night which obviously did not agree with us - it was a white which instead of using the normal preservatives you use in white wine, used Fish oil and a milk thingie. It obviously did not agree with us though, as we spent the next morning being sick with symptoms like food poisoning! Needless to say, we will now be checking the back of the bottles of wine to see what preservatives are used. The girls had fun anyway, running around - Eliza was covered in mud by the end of the day, having fallen over in a couple of puddles!

It is now 11pm (and I only just managed to get Eliza off to sleep), wasn't too keen to go to bed given she had a 2 hour sleep in the car on the way home from Sydney - and she is getting more teethies - her eye teeth I think, she is not real impressed, poor thing has been sucking and chewing on her fingers! She was lying down with me the other night - I had given her a teething ring to chew on, and she put the ring on her wrist and said "Bling Bling Bling". Think she has picked up the lingo from her sister the Bling Queen.
